The Doctoral Degree Program in Environmental and Occupational Medicine was founded in Division of Environmental Health & Occupational Medicine, National Health Research Institutes, andKaohsiung Medical University in 2010.

The National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) is a non-profit foundation established in 1995. Success in education and training is the ultimate requirement for medical sciences to flourish in this country in the future and to establish Taiwan as a center of first-class medical research. The training of the next generations of medical scientists in Taiwan is an important goal of the NHRI.

In Kaohsiung Medical University, we had published more than 300 SCI papers (more than 60 articles per year) in the past five years such as some of environmental hazards factors relationship to the body of the nerve, skin, immune and reproductive systems. We also had published cancer-related research up to about 170 SCI papers (more than 30 articles per year). With findings, some papers as the first to explore the international issues and their research is the reference to the principle of the government to develop health policy such as teach people how to prevent, avoid exposure, and risk reduction. Therefore, Kaohsiung Medical University research studies had had a lot of contribution to the health of the people.
